Wind in the Willows - NEXT WEEK!

Contain your excitement if you can, the Wind In The Willows brand new musical is being premiered at Queens Theatre Hornchurch next week! I’ve written all the original music alongside James Watson who has written the new script carefully adapted from the original book by Kenneth Grahame. With a nine piece band of incredible musicians drawn from my big band and cast of over 120 young people, it will be quite a show. As Toad would say; “POOP-POOP!”

Here’s a big article in Hornchurch Life

Junior Music Festivals 2017

Having a great time this week working with primary and secondary schools across the borough putting on our annual Junior Music Festivals. I’ve been involved in three of the five evenings of concerts with several months of rehearsals with school choirs numbering up to 150 children coming together to perform a wide selection of material. Wednesday night saw songs exploring the theme of friendship and this evenings performance was songs from the stage and screen. Tomorrow is a surprise! Check out this picture below - just before the curtain came up!

It’s not a baton, it’s a pencil!

Thanks to Queens Theatre Hornchurch, Havering Schools Music Association and Havering Music School for their continued hard work and support on this annual project. I remember performing in this myself as a young person and it is so important to reinforce the important of full ensemble singing!

One more tomorrow night and then Saturday is the Saturday Morning Music School Concerts in the afternoon and evening. Busy busy!

Andrew Linham Jazz Orchestra Saturday 10th June 2017

We had an amazing time on Saturday playing to a packed audience at St. Luke’s Church Cranham. We have played there annually for the past four years and it was a pleasure to be back there, this time in conjunction with a charity for Dalit women and children in India, for which we raised an amazing £577.00 through selling handmade elephants and ticket sales. We premiered some new material, all of which was well received, but many audience members again reminded me that their favourite tune was Big Bertha, an imaginary woman who has somehow become synonymous with the band! The four new tunes; Troll In The Dungeon, Hiding From Jan, Grand Canary Hotel and The Thing That’s Not A Thing were great fun to play and I am really pleased with this new original music!

We were lucky enough to have local photographer Peter Watt to take some photos of the band and he has put together a stunning collection of shots to capture the evening which are shown below.
