October 2018

October saw lots of busy projects across all areas so here’s a little update of the fun and exciting adventures I’ve been up to and a cheeky look at what is coming up in the not so distant future!

Andy Shore and i premiered our 10 minute musical ‘The Bank Of Mum and Dad’ at Queens Theatre Hornchurch which was fantastic, below is a little advert of the rehearsal process! It was an incredible experience to be under pressure and creative on a three week time frame!

As part of that evening I also had the opportunity to work with a rapper and a beatboxer as tweeted about here:

And you can see a video of Tangent and I doing some cool saxophone, beatbox and loop pedal work below! I’ve gotta buy me one of those!

Alongside this I’ve had the joy of working with Dani Batchelor on the Primary Steps programme for the Royal Ballet School which is always an absolute delight every September and October that project comes around! I do dearly love playing and improvising for dancing, it is such a pleasure to use music to facilitate dance in a real life high stakes setting! Such a joy!

My work with Ardleigh Green Junior School has been busy this term with some concerts and planning their Christmas show, my new adaption of The Wizard Of Oz (Be careful driving on that Yellow M25, it can be dastardly!). Here’s a clip below of the Year 6 students doing one of my favourite tongue twisters and brain teasers simply called 12345! I’ve also been working with Goodrington School on their new version of Cinderella which will be as pantomime as possible!

I’ve been fairly busy working with ECHO performing in clubs and pubs across Havering and Essex and their inimitable brand of gospel infused Motown seems to go down a treat wherever we go!

MIMIKA had the album reviewed in Songlines magazine, check it our via the link below!

London City Big Band had their last gig of this year at the Spice of Life last Wednesday on Halloween. Barney told us all to dress and so I arrived in a cape... needless to say I was the only one to dress up and I had to do a clarinet solo wearing a cape - truly a career highlight of course... thankfully no pictures of that prestigious event have been discovered!

I’ve been working with Local Girl Productions on their new show ’Standing On Their Shoulders’ which is the story of the suffragettes which we are performing on the date below - and we got a cheeky mention in the Romford Recorder... yes this is the high life I know!

I’ve also been working with DABD and Queens Theatre Hornchurch doing some incredible outreach work with children with a wide variety of special needs which has been an incredible project to work on!
